Bournemouth – December 15, 2024 – Bournemouth Foodbank has provided more than 100,000 emergency meals this year to people in Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole, including over 24,000 meals for children. The growing need for support highlights the increasing pressures on local families as more people turn to the Foodbank for help.
In addition to distributing food parcels, Bournemouth Foodbank has hosted nearly 50 Social Canteen events, providing hot meals and a sense of community to over 3,000 individuals. These events are not just about food – they offer a vital lifeline of connection and dignity to people who feel isolated or overwhelmed.
“The need for our support has grown significantly over the years,” said John Saborido, PR and comms manager at Bournemouth Foodbank. “This Christmas, we’re seeing more and more families struggling to make ends meet, and many of them are accessing our services for the very first time. It’s a stark reminder of how many people are living on the edge of crisis in our community.”

The Foodbank is currently running a Christmas Crowdfunder campaign to raise £15,000, with just over £7,800 raised so far with just over two weeks left. These funds are critical to sustaining their services and ensuring families in crisis receive the help they need.
“Every meal we provide is made possible by the generosity of our supporters,” added John. “We’re asking the community to come together and help us reach our target. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a real difference.”
As the cost-of-living crisis continues to impact local families, Bournemouth Foodbank remains steadfast in its commitment to providing practical support while advocating for long-term solutions to address poverty and hunger.
