Behind the Scenes – The Foodbank Chairman’s Story!

20th April 2017

Bournemouth Foodbank is helped and supported by a great bunch of people! We want to share some of their stories with you, here on our website.

The following story is that of the Foodbank’s Trustee Chairman, Pippa Williams.

I was approached by a Bournemouth Foodbank trustee in September 2015 and asked to consider the position of Chairman. It was at a time of great change for the Foodbank; quite a few of the existing Trustees were having to step aside, opening up various positions on the Board.

I didn’t have to think very hard about saying yes – we had just returned to our home in Ringwood, from an extended working trip in Goa, India and I was wondering how I could best fill my time. The prospect immediately excited me: I have always admired my sister (Debbie Bramley, Foodbanks Project Director) and the work she does for those who find themselves in a crisis situation. I felt this would be a great way for me to support and assist her.

To be honest, if I had thought any longer and harder, if I’d found out more of what is entailed and the responsibility of this position, I might have run a mile! Nevertheless, as it is, I believe I am in the right place, that I’m here in obedience to my Heavenly Father’s calling. I am completely trusting in Him to lead and guide me, to give me all the tools I need to serve our community in Bournemouth. Of course it helps that the rest of the team are so awesome, both my fellow trustees and the management committee members.

I wish to take this opportunity to say a great big thank you, to everyone reading this, for all your support and encouragement.

Pippa
