Staff Story – Lauren, Volunteer Manager

6th June 2017

Let us introduce Lauren!

Lauren is one of the Foodbank’s volunteer managers – she joined the team last year. She shares some thoughts with us below:

Hi! My name is Lauren and I’m so excited about my role working for the Foodbank.

I was first drawn to the Foodbank as a volunteer – I loved getting to know people and working for an organisation that genuinely helped and cared for people when they were in real crisis.

Even more than this, I love that people people don’t only receive practical help from the Foodbank; it’s a place where the staff and volunteers strive to make people feel listened to, cared about, encouraged and feeling more hopeful when they leave than when they came in.

I’m excited to now be a part of the Foodbank again and to be a part of the great team here. I know that I am helping to make a difference in people’s lives and hopefully to put a smile on their faces!

Lauren joins a team of dedicated staff who work to keep the Foodbank wheels turning. You may remember we recently introduced you to Ed, our other Volunteer Manager.

Between them, Lauren and Ed oversee and manage the team of volunteers who help with all sorts of tasks in the Foodbank warehouse. Critically, these volunteers organise and pack the food parcels that are given out to those in need.
