What a haul!

23rd June 2017

Not so long ago we asked for your help with the Foodbank National Collections.

We’re so pleased to share with you how it went!

Here’s what Ed, one of our volunteer managers, had to say:

Thank you so much for all your hard work.  Chris and I picked up all 92 crates from Tescos this morning.  Poor Chis had to share the passenger seat with 3 crates just to fit everything in!

On arrival at the warehouse, we couldn’t even get the van on to the driveway because it was so low on its axels that the tow bar grounded when I tried to reverse in! But it’s all safely in now thanks to Alan and Ellis, who did a lot of the heavy lifting.

92 crates! What an amazing response!

Once the food had been processed and weighed, we discovered it came to 1915.15 kg – that’s just under 2 tonnes!

We want to say a huge thank you to all of those who donated food during our collection, and to Tesco Castle Lane for all of their help.

Of course, we also want to express massive gratitude to the volunteers who helped to collect it!
