Crisis Crate Challenge – Take the challenge!

11th August 2017

Drumroll please! It’s time for the annual…

CRISIS CRATE CHALLENGE

Will you take up the three-day challenge to live on an emergency food parcel – and discover just how much you take your food for granted?

People across Bournemouth are stepping up to take the Foodbank challenge this September.

It’s pretty simple – you receive an emergency food parcel from the Foodbank, and your challenge is to live on these supplies for three days.

Our sponsored Crisis Crate Challenge is a brilliant way for you to connect compassionately with the needs of families and individuals across Bournemouth who rely on the Foodbank – and to find out how hard it can be to live on basic rations. You can take part by yourself or as part of a group!

Four Simple Steps

Let’s break it down in to four steps.

  1. Choose your dates

Our wonderful Foodbank staff and trustees will be taking on the three day challenge from 12-14 September – but you can choose any date to fit in with your schedule.

  2. Sign up!

We need you to let us know that you’re taking part in the challenge, there are a couple of ways to do this.

Use this form to sign up for the challenge online, and we’ll be in touch to arrange the rest.

Alternatively, you can get in touch by calling us on 01202 900979 between 9am and 1pm, Monday to Thursday.

  3. Get your food parcel

There’s an initial fee for your pack to cover our costs, which you’ll need to pay when you pick it up. You can pick up your parcel from Foodbank Central in St Leonard’s Road, Charminster BH8 8QL, but if your church, schools or business chooses to take this up as a group fundraiser, we’re happy to deliver some parcels to you!

    Single person £10
    Couple/Double £15
    Family of 4 £25
    Family of 5+ £30
  4. Get fundraising!

Now you’re ready to go out and get sponsorships! Ask your friends, family and colleagues to support your Foodbank challenge.

You can collect sponsorships however you like, but we suggest you create a fundraising page online.

This is the easiest way for people to sponsor you, and the money comes directly to the Foodbank. Importantly, by doing this, your sponsors can gift aid their donations, which means the government tops up the amount by an extra 25p for every £1 donated.

If you prefer, you can also download a printable sponsorship form here. When you’ve collected all of your sponsorship money, please remember to mark the donations with ‘Crisis Crate’ and your name. You can submit your sponsorship money online here.

Top Tips

If you decide to take up the Crisis Crate Challenge: thank you! Here are our top tips for making the most of the challenge:

Some things to avoid during the challenge:

  • Don’t spend more than £1.50 per person during the challenge on tasty extras
  • Don’t forget that this challenge is the reality for people in crisis across our town and we urgently need your fundraising to keep going
  • Don’t cheat! It’s meant to be hard!

I wasn’t hungry at any point in the three days but I struggled with the lack of choice and I’d definitely advise you to spend your 50p per day very wisely!
