Christmas is a busy time of year for everyone – there are presents to buy, cards to write, a tree to decorate and a turkey to eat. A lot of work for one person, a lot of fun when its done with someone else!
Bournemouth Foodbank had a busy Christmas, but it was only possible with a lot of help from our friends…
There was dancing!
Footprints dance studio put on a special Christmas show and fundraiser for the Foodbank which raised £215.63 and four crates of food.
The children showed off their dance moves and the adults enjoyed the cake stall!
There was singing!
Fire Radio’s breakfast team visited the Foodbank to record their seasonal song It’s Christmas.
Max and Jason’s song is available to download for all those who want to keep the Christmas spirit alive. All proceeds will go to the Foodbank.
There was food!
So much food! We are blown away by the generosity of Bournemouth. After almost 3 tonnes of food was received at the Tesco Neighbourhood Food Collection at the beginning of December, and from then on, the donations just didn’t stop.
One way that a lot of people made their giving fun was to use a reverse advent calendar. This meant that their donation could be immediately turned into a single person’s food parcel for our clients in need.
There were presents!
Bournemouth Foodbank celebrated Christmas this year by giving out over 200 hampers to local families and supported housing projects. The equivalent of about 12,600 meals were delivered to people’s doorsteps by a fleet of 60 drivers – all in one day!
The hampers were accompanied by fresh and frozen food and a message of hope from the Bible.
17 local churches partnered with us along with numerous businesses, agencies and community groups to help make this all possible.
All in all it has been a huge amount of fun and we are so grateful for all the help we have been given.
A massive thank you and happy new year to all our friends and supporters! We couldn’t have done all this without you.
