AFC Bournemouth Charity Partnership

11th August 2018

Bournemouth Foodbank charity partner for AFC Bournemouth Football Club

The Foodbank is AFC Bournemouth Supporters’ Charity Partner for 2018/19!

We won!

Thank you so much to all the supporters who voted for Bournemouth Foodbank. This is the beginning of a beautiful partnership.

The club have already been extremely generous by inviting 10 of our volunteers to watch the recent friendly against Marseille. Alison Mayne, one of our volunteers (and a longstanding Cherries fan!), had this to say:

It was great to meet up with other volunteers and share a great afternoon watching AFCB doing what they do best – winning!

I feel really proud that Bournemouth Foodbank has been chosen by the fans as their charity partner. The club are very generous in wishing to raise the profile of their selected charities to help them to make strong ties with the local community and think creatively about how they personally can make a difference.

From now on, a Foodbank collection point will stand outside the stadium; this means fans can drop off food donations at every matchday throughout the season.

Rob Mitchell, commercial director at AFC Bournemouth, said:

We’re proud to be partnered with Bournemouth Foodbank and to be working together to help end poverty and hunger in our community.

We had a successful matchday collection at the Arsenal fixture in January so we’re hoping that the presence of a collection point at every home match this season will help raise awareness of the charity and the reality of food poverty in Bournemouth.

Together the foodbank and the club will be promoting more opportunities to serve the community for the duration of this partnership.
