Mid-year report (Apr-Sep 2024)

From April to September 2024 Bournemouth Foodbank provided close to 50 thousand meals to more than 5,400 people, of which almost 10 thousand were for children. / See Detailed Report ↗️

Widespread Support

Despite primarily serving the Bournemouth area, Bournemouth Foodbank supports individuals from across the entire BCP region, with visitors coming to all our hubs from most wards. The highest levels of need are consistently seen in Eastcliff & Springbourne, Boscombe West, and Bournemouth Central, reflecting the concentrated challenges faced by residents in these areas. These wards represent the largest proportion of those accessing our services, highlighting the widespread and urgent need for support throughout the community.

The data presented on Bournemouth Foodbank's statistics (this page and other reports) is subject to certain limitations related to the measurement of unique users, which may vary depending on the timescale used for analysis. Specifically, when aggregating unique users over different periods, the figures may not accurately represent the true number of individuals served. For instance, if a family of three accesses the foodbank twice a month from January to March, this would be recorded as three unique users per month, resulting in a total of nine unique users when summing the individual months. However, when considering the same data on a quarterly basis, which is our standard aggregation method, the family would only be counted as three unique users for the entire quarter. This discrepancy arises due to the nuances of data aggregation and should be taken into account when interpreting the figures. We continually strive to improve our data collection and analysis methods to provide the most accurate and meaningful representation of our impact on the community.
