BEYOND THE FOOD PARCEL: Understanding Food Insecurity in Bournemouth

This report presents findings from a collaborative research project between Bournemouth Foodbank and The Open University, funded through the Open Societal Challenges Programme. The 6-month project was carried out between February 2026 – July 2026.
The research combined quantitative analysis of Bournemouth Foodbank voucher data from 2019 to June 2026 with qualitative interviews involving 45 people who had accessed the foodbank. Together, these methods provide both a statistical overview of local trends and an in-depth understanding of the realities of living with food insecurity.
