Foodbank Collections Update

30th September 2017

Foodbank Volunteers at Waitrose - Bournemouth Foodbank

On a recent Friday, some of our wonderful Foodbank volunteers headed down to Waitrose Parkstone – not to do their own shopping (although I suspect they might have bought a few bits!) but to collect donations for the Foodbank.

These volunteers were on hand to give out Foodbank shopping lists, with items that are most needed at the moment. Shoppers could then pick a few, or more than a few items to buy alongside their weekly shop. On their way out, they popped them in with our collection!

Collections at shops and supermarkets make a big difference to the Foodbank supplies, helping to stock the warehouse – this is especially important in the run-up to Christmas. This time of the year is very busy for the Foodbank, helping those in need to get by, with emergency food rations.

We’re getting close to the holiday season now, and the next big collection is drawing near – over the weekend of 30 November to 2 December, National Collections will be taking place. Our closest one is at Tesco Castle Lane. We’d love to see you if you can pop by, and put a few extra things in your trolley to give to the Foodbank!
